The adapalene molecule is more stable comparedto tretinoin and tazarotene, which leads to less concern forphotodegradation. It is also chemically more stable compared to the othertwo retinoids, allowing it to be used in combination with benzoylperoxide. Due to its effects on keratinocyte proliferation anddifferentiation, adapalene is superior to tretinoin for the treatment of comedonalacne and is often used as a first-line agent.
