Chondroitin sulfate is an important structural componentof cartilage, and provides much of its resistance to compression.Along with glucosamine, chondroitin sulfate has become a widelyused dietary supplement for treatment of osteoarthritis,although large clinical trials failed to demonstrate any symptomaticbenefit of chondroitin.
